The article describes one of the urban planning workshops organized for students by the Department of Urban Planning and Spatial Management of the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology in cooperation with local governments. This form of teaching urban design is a permanent element of the process of educating master’s degree students in the specialty of “Architecture and Urban Planning 2”: “The city as a place to live”. The aim of the article is to present one of such projects: the workshops organized in cooperation with the Municipal Office of Piaseczno in the academic year 2019/2020. The article presents the course of classes and the benefits that both students and the town have gained from them. The project focused on the transformation of the spatial structure of the area of the railroad station in Piaseczno. The greatest emphasis was placed on the social context of urban design, the need to recognize local needs, as well as the views of station users and the local community on the presented visions.
