ABSTRACT
The aim of the article is to make a critical analysis of the typology of what is called "micro-apartments", i.e. apartments with minimal areas, which, due to failure to meet the legal requirements regarding permissible areas, are often sold on the development market as commercial premises. Contemporary ideas for accessible housing are juxtaposed with the theoretical achievements of the modernist movement, with particular emphasis on the Congress of Modern Architecture in Frankfurt in 1929 and the idea of the Existenzminimum (minimum required for existence). The text also refers to the specific nature of Polish architectural thought and the socio-political conditions that have shaped it.
