ABSTRACT
This article complements the texts presented in this issue of “Kwartalnik Architektury i Urbanistyki” on collaborative research and design activities in Lidzbark Warmiński carried out by future sociologists – students of the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and Resocialization at the University of Warsaw, who worked under the guidance of Magdalena Łukasiuk, DSc, and future architects from the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology, preparing designs of multi-family residential buildings in the group supervised by Ewa Widera, PhD Arch. The town’s historic layout and historic buildings were an important context for their activities. Consequently, there is a need for a broader presentation of the complex, multicultural history of the town and the successive stages of shaping its urban layout, as well as those old buildings that have survived and still determine the character of Lidzbark Warmiński.
